Career in EEE – Semi Conductor Industry:

Manufacturing of integrated circuits in electronic devices.  It includes development of faster, efficient and powerful chips. Materials included in the manufacturing and the development of the competitive products depending on the need of the industry.  Improvement of existing memory devices, microprocessors, RF integrated circuits, analog chips etc also come under this category.

Career in EEE – Electrical Engineers in Aerospace and Aviation Industry

Design / Develop / Test power equipments in the aircraft, space vehicles, helicopters. The related fields include displays, control systems, communication, navigation, etc. in these vehicles as well as in ships, submarines and military systems developed for the land, air and sea as well. With the explosive growth in the aviation industry, defense and military, there has been a massive requirement of electrical engineers in these sectors. Commercial airlines also contribute in the development of aviation industry in India.

In health care, electrical engineers can involve in developing or designing of diagnostic devices, therapeutic devices for clinical use, the design and development of prosthetic devices, biologically compatible materials, etc. for the application of biological research.

Growing government as well as private companies in the power sector needs the electrical engineering professionals for managing the machines like wind tunnels, turbines, hydro electric projects, fuel cells, the distribution of electricity and the devices or machinery required for the same. The safety, efficiency, effective operations also come under the purview or electrical engineers. Mainly electrical engineers are required in manufacturing sector – including textiles, paper, metals, automobiles, petrochemicals, pulp, rubber, etc.

If there is a good command over the communication systems, electrical engineers can work on satellite or GPS systems. Other related area is control system.  In typical Indian scenario, the term “electrical” engineer is related with the power generation, supply and conservation.

There are lot of centrally funded projects taken up by the government as well as the private players in the country which offer good job opportunities for electrical engineers.

Other than in the Industry, one can turn to academia. After B.Tech, you can specialize in one of the areas in electrical engienering – Power Systems, Control & Instrumentation etc. are some of the areas for pursuing higher degree. Now-a-days, research has taken up well with almost all the engineering fields.
